I hear nothing wrong w/ Death Magnetic's sound...do YOU?

I keep reading all these people complain about the sound & how it ( Death Magnetic ) sounds better on some game system ( I forget which ) but honestly I have played the album 14 times + twice on head-phones & it sounds GREAT to me.

What's the problem?

Do you have to be a musician to hear the "problem(s)"?

Are Metallica "fans" just whining ( perish the thought! ) again?

Is my hearing worse than I thought? No joke,my hearing is somewhat damaged from years of metallic abuse!

The only CD I ever bought that sounded like crap was a Simon and Garfunkle one back in the early days of CDs and sometimes I notice I have to turn up some CDs higher than others to get em as loud but VERY few,overall.

Anyways,I'm stomped,I honestly don't hear ANYTHING wrong.

The production itself sounds good. But the mix and master are clipping (distorting). You can't really blame the mastering because the mix was brick-walled before it got to mastering. The problem with today's productions is how loud they are. Everything is pushed to the front and there is no dynamics left in the music. Everything just sounds loud. That's why the drums have no punch, the guitars don't have picking definition or crunch and the bass sounds completely lost in a mix.

Death Magnetic sounds awful.

Take most recordings mastered after 2000, and compare them to Sepultura's Arise. Now play back both of them at a normal listening level to your ears. You will hear much more dynamics and individuality (yet a nice balance) of the instruments from Arise.

yes, it seems a lot of people have noticed the distorting due to how loud things are, especially on the fills and snare. this was a problem they addressed with the songs up on their myspace, saying theyd fix them the cd i heard still had them, well it was a 128kbps wma rip, ewww.

ok, we all agree (except Alfred) that this is a piss poor effort from MetallicA. The thing I'm starting to hate most about this experience is that some of the songs and riffs are catchy to me. They pop in my head and I think "Ok, let's give it another listen..." I do and it's just so disappointing. After a couple weeks, I'm already burnt out on this CD and I kinda liked it at first. Now when I listen to it, all I hear are all the things I don't like about it, yet I still want to listen to it. Fuck this CD.
