why did you put TWO 81's?
I was wondering the same thing hehe... would make more sense to have 2 different ones, like an 81 (bridge) and 85 (neck), that's the way my guitars are set up.

I dunno, I just liked the way it sounded...I was trying to stray away from doing the 81 and 85 because thats the same setup zakk wylde has and I HATE his tone.
you hate his neck pickup tone?Originally Posted by nomendie

Well, maybe not the pickup itself...maybe the guitars or amps he uses ? I just dont like his sound in general. But, ya know, I'm not the only one who uses 2 81's in their guitars...

In my experience 60% of tone comes from the amp/fx/settings.
I would recommend avoiding all of these things:
JCM800's modded by Lee Jackson. Amp settings are Bass - 10, mid - 3, highs - 10, presence - 2-3, preamp volume - 10, master volume - 6-7.
He also has a Boss super overdrive with all knobs set at 1 oclock except for drive which is set at 2 oclock.
Go get whatever pickups you want (I like seymour duncans) but keep in mind that versatility will be your best friend if you are still searching for your perfect tone. In other words, sell this ESP and get some seymours!![]()

I would've just used ONE pickup (EMG 81)
No need to make more holes in the wood of your guitar and have 2 of the same pickups, more wood = more tone
